Waytoplay Expressway Set Review: High-Speed Fun for Kids

If your child loves racing cars, building tracks, and imaginative play, the Waytoplay Expressway set might just be the ultimate addition to their toy collection. Designed for high-speed fun, this flexible toy road system stands out for its durability, creativity-boosting potential, and easy setup. In this review, we take a close look at the Expressway set, exploring what makes it a favorite among parents and kids alike.

Waytoplay has earned a reputation for creating innovative, modular road systems that encourage open-ended play. The Expressway set, in particular, focuses on speed and connectivity, allowing children to build elaborate highways that twist, turn, and loop. Whether used indoors or outdoors, this set promises hours of engaging, screen-free entertainment. Let’s dive into the details.

What is the Waytoplay Expressway Set?

The Waytoplay Expressway set is a specially curated collection of flexible road pieces designed to create a high-speed racing circuit. Unlike traditional rigid tracks, these roads are made from durable, non-toxic silicone that can be bent into curves, straightaways, and intersections. The set typically includes multiple track segments, bridges, and arches that connect seamlessly, enabling kids to design their own expressway layouts.

What sets this set apart is its emphasis on speed and flow. The roads are wide enough for most toy cars, including popular die-cast models, and the flexible material ensures that cars can race smoothly without bumping into rigid edges. The Expressway set is part of Waytoplay’s larger collection, which includes other themed expansions like the Arches - Creator set and the Arches - Starter set, allowing for endless customization.

• Flexible silicone material bends into curves and straight lines
• Includes bridges and arches for elevated racing sections
• Compatible with other Waytoplay sets for expanded play

Design and Build Quality

Waytoplay roads are known for their exceptional build quality, and the Expressway set is no exception. Each piece is made from high-grade, food-safe silicone that is both soft to the touch and incredibly durable. The roads are designed to withstand rough play, outdoor use, and even being stepped on without losing their shape. This makes them ideal for active kids who love to build and rebuild their tracks.

The design also prioritizes safety. There are no sharp edges or small parts that could pose a choking hazard, and the material is easy to clean—simply wipe with a damp cloth or rinse under water. The vibrant colors, typically including shades of gray, yellow, and red, mimic real highway markings, adding to the realistic feel. For parents looking for a toy that combines fun with longevity, the Expressway set delivers.

• Non-toxic, food-grade silicone construction
• Easy to clean and maintain
• Realistic road markings enhance imaginative play

High-Speed Play and Compatibility

The Expressway set truly shines when it comes to high-speed play. The smooth, flexible surface allows toy cars to glide effortlessly, making it perfect for racing games. Kids can set up loops, long straightaways, and challenging curves, testing the speed and control of their favorite vehicles. The set works well with cars like the Back and Forth car Red, which features a friction motor for added momentum.

Compatibility is another major advantage. The Expressway set connects seamlessly with other Waytoplay products, such as the Roads & Arches (9 choices) collection, enabling kids to expand their highway system. You can also incorporate themed arches like the Arches - Sea Life or Arches - Reptile Creatures to add visual variety. This modularity means the play possibilities are virtually limitless, encouraging creativity and problem-solving.

• Smooth surface for fast, uninterrupted racing
• Works with standard toy cars and friction-powered vehicles
• Easily expandable with other Waytoplay sets

How Does It Compare to Other Waytoplay Sets?

While Waytoplay offers several road sets, the Expressway set is uniquely tailored for speed enthusiasts. Compared to the Arches - Starter set, which focuses on basic road building and arches, the Expressway set includes more straight segments and specialized pieces for creating long, fast tracks. It’s an excellent choice for children who prefer racing over leisurely driving.

For families who already own a starter set, adding the Expressway set is a natural progression. It complements the Arches - Creator set nicely, as the Creator set provides additional arch shapes and connectors, while the Expressway set supplies the road length needed for high-speed circuits. Together, they form a comprehensive road system that grows with your child’s interests.

• More straight tracks and speed-oriented pieces than starter sets
• Ideal for children who love racing and competition
• Pairs well with arch sets for elevated track designs

Tips for Getting the Most Out of Your Expressway Set

To maximize the fun, try setting up the Expressway set on a flat, open surface like a living room floor or a patio. Encourage your child to design different layouts, such as a figure-eight track or a multi-lane highway. You can also introduce obstacles or ramps using other toys to create challenges.

Another tip is to combine the set with themed accessories like the Airport Signs to add realism to the play scenario. For example, create a highway leading to an airport runway, complete with signage. This not only extends playtime but also helps children develop storytelling and planning skills. Remember to store the pieces in a cool, dry place when not in use to maintain their flexibility.

• Use on flat surfaces for best performance
• Combine with other Waytoplay sets for larger layouts
• Incorporate signs and accessories for realistic scenarios

The Waytoplay Expressway set is a fantastic investment for families seeking a durable, creative, and high-speed toy road system.
