Chilling Tales of Poe - Volume I (Digital)

From the Creator: Listen to the storytelling master of fear and fright like never before. With the immersive power of the soundscape audiobook produced by Root & Twig Sounds, listen to two of Edgar Allan Poe's chilling classics - if you dare!

Meet the creator.

Poe - Volume 1 contains the unabridged recording of Edgar Allan Poe’s short stories “The Cask of Amontillado” and “The Oval Portrait”. The original 19th‑century language and period attitudes are preserved. Contains mature themes including alcohol use, manipulation, premeditated murder, and death. Scenes are intense though not graphic. Both stories are often taught as part of the US high school curriculum.

"The Cask of Amontillado" - Featuring gripping voice work from voice actors Phil Dragash and Riccardo Ricobello and original music by composer Alexander Amadeo, see why Edgar Allan Poe's masterful short story remains as unsettling as when it was put to pen in 1846. You'll never think of wine and masonry the same way again.

Text Written by Edgar Allan Poe in 1846. Performed by Phil Dragash & Riccardo Ricobello. Produced and Directed by Phil Dragash & A.Y. Barker. Original Music Composed by Alexander Amadeo. Production Copyright ©2023.

"The Oval Portrait" - Experience Edgar Allan Poe's 1842 mysterious tale of a seemingly life-like oval portrait in an abandoned château through the power of a soundscape audiobook. Root & Twig Sound's production takes you into the mountains of the Italian Apennines with haunting sound design, riveting voiceover by Phil Dragash and original music by Alexander Amadeo.
